UVA Wins Varsity Eight and Varsity Four at Rivanna Romp
EARLYSVILLE, Va. — The Virginia rowing team won the Varsity Eight and Varsity Four races as the Cavaliers concluded their fall season at the Rivanna Romp on Sunday (Nov. 11) on the Rivanna Reservoir. The annual regatta featured crews from Clemson, Duke, Louisville, North Carolina and the host Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers’ Varsity Eight picked up their 13th consecutive win at the Rivanna Romp, completing the 4,000-meter course with a winning time of 13:15.6. UVA’s Second Varsity Eight placed second (13:32.4), while Louisville (13:51.1) placed third and Duke (14:02) finished fourth. UVA’s Third Varsity Eight (14:05.9) and UVA Fourth Varsity Eight (14:09.1) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
UVA claimed the top four places in the Varsity Four race. The Cavaliers’ Varsity Four won the race with a time of 14:38.3. UVA’s Third Varsity Four placed second at 14:57.4 followed by the Cavaliers’ Second Varsity Four (14:58.1) and Fourth Varsity Four (15:07.3).
Virginia placed third in the novice eight race with a time of 14:34.8.
