Philadelphia, Pa.-  The No. 13 Virginia men’s squash team (2-2) fell 6-3 to No. 11 Drexel (2-1) on Saturday (Nov. 17) at the Kline & Specter Squash Center.

“Our victories today came from the back order at seven, eight and nine, reiterating the very strong depth that we have in our men’s team this year,” head coach Mark Allen said. “We were competitive through the middle too with Will Braff just one point off taking a two-to-one lead in his match. But across the nine positions, they were the better team today and deserved the win on their home courts.”

Sophomore Andrew Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) opened the match with an 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 win in position eight against Will Grady.

Drexel won positions six and two, respectively, to take the lead, but the Cavaliers tied the match with an 11-2, 11-6, 11-5 win from senior Henry Woodworth (Weston, Mass.) in position nine.

The Dragons recorded back-to-back wins in positions five and one, respectively, to record their fourth point in the match.

Freshman Glenn Yates (Cape Town, South Africa) kept the Cavaliers alive, winning position seven. Yates topped Royston Raymond in four games, winning the team’s last point with an 11-4, 11-4, 10-12, 11-3 victory.

Drexel closed the day and captured the win with victories in positions three and four, respectively.

Virginia will return to action tomorrow to face No. 6 Pennsylvania.
