CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (1-2) will play North Carolina A&T (1-2, 0-0 MEAC) on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at John Paul Jones Arena. The game is Field Trip Day and will have a special 11 a.m. tip time.

Field Trip Day Information for Fans Attending the Game

• Doors will open at 9:30 a.m., 90 minutes prior to tipoff

• Season ticket holders may sit in Sections 101-105, below the wall and section 107. As with all games, some seats in these sections will be held for guests of participating teams.  Season ticket holders will receive a ticket for this game but will not have access to their usual season ticket seating location

• GA tickets are good in sections 316-319
• UVA Students will sit in section 301
• Public parking is available in the non-coned spaces of the John Paul Jones Arena parking garage. Entry is through the back of the garage only. There will not be parking available in the JPJ surface lot. Emmett Ivy Garage will also be available for parking, and, if space is available, in the UHall and McCue lots
• The Clear Bag policy is in effect for this game and every game this season

 
Noting the Cavaliers

• Virginia has won the battle of the boards in all three games this season
• Junior center Felicia Aiyeotan (Lagos, Nigeria) had a career-high 16 rebounds against Mississippi State, the second highest single-game total by an ACC player so far this season. Her 12.7 rebounds per game ranks second in the ACC. Regan Magarity of Virginia Tech leads the conference at 14.0 per game
• Aiyeotan has 136 blocked shots in her career. She is three shy of tying Jocelyn Logan-Friend for third on the UVA all-time list. Logan-Griend (2002-05) blocked 139 shots in 111 games. Aiyeotan will be playing in the 70th game of her career on Tuesday. Heather Burge (1990-93) ranks second with 152 in 135 games. DeMya Walker (1996-99) holds the record with 330 blocked shots. Walker ranks third all-time in the ACC. Aiyeotan has a chance to move into the top-25 in the ACC in blocked shots this season. Carolyn Swords of Boston College (2007-11) currently ranks 25th at 178 blocked shots. Notre Dame’s Brianna Turner is the conference’s active career leader with 263 in 100 games (heading into this season)
• The Cavaliers have had a different player lead the team in scoring each game: junior Dominique Toussaint (Staten Island, N.Y.) with 19 points against Mississippi State, freshman Erica Martinsen (Clarence, N.Y.) with 15 at Kentucky and junior Jocelyn Willoughby (East Orange, N.J.) with 14 at Old Dominion

 
Last time out

• The Cavaliers picked up a 73-67 victory at Old Dominion
• This was Tina Thompson’s first victory as a head coach
• The Cavaliers held a one-rebound edge at the half (21-20), but outrebounded the Monarchs 26-15 in the second half
• Six different Cavaliers made UVA’s six shots in the first quarter. Every Virginia player scored at least two points. It was the first time that every eligible player scored in a game since Nov. 12 of last year against Central Connecticut
• The Cavaliers led for all but four minutes of the game
• Old Dominion was 1-of-6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and 12-of-21 overall. Virginia shot a season-best 85.7 percent from the line (24-of-28) including going 5-of-6 in the fourth quarter
• Junior Shakyna Payne (Ackworth, Ga.) posted career highs in points (6) and rebounds (4) in the second quarter alone. Her previous career highs were four points (last year vs Central Connecticut) and three rebounds (achieved twice last year, last vs. Ohio). She also matched her career high with two blocked shots
• Senior Mone Jones (Durham, N.C.) scored a career-high 11 points and matched her career high in rebounds with seven
• Jones was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the line
• Willoughby (14), Toussaint (11), Jones (11) and Aiyeotan (10) all scored in double figures
• Every Virginia player had at least one rebound

 
Scouting North Carolina A&T

• N.C. A&T finished the season 23-9 overall and 15-1 in the MEAC to win a share of the regular-season title along with Bethune-Cookman
• The Aggies won 19 of their last 20 games going into the NCAA Tournament
• NC A&T were in the same first and second round pod as the Cavaliers, playing South Carolina in the opening game. The Aggies were within eight points with five minutes to go in their tournament contest against the Gamecocks before losing the game
• After dropping their first two contests of the year to Morehead State and Akron, A&T rebounded on Friday with a 60-56 victory over Winston-Salem State. Charme Lilly scored 18 points with five steals
• Junior C’Coriea Foy is a first-team preseason all-conference selection after leading the Aggies in scoring last year at 12.7 points per game. She also led the team in assists (3.1) and steals (2.5). She was a second-team All-MEAC pick after last season
• Alexus “Suge” Lessears was the third-best rebounder in the MEAC last year at 9.2 points per game. Lessears was also seventh in the conference in blocked shots per game (1.47) and she went to the free throw line 149 times, fifth-most in the league
• This is the first road game this season for NC A&T
• This is the third meeting between the two teams, having previously played in 1996 (82-36) and 2010 (88-59). Virginia’s average margin of victory in the two games was 37.5 points

 
On the Horizon

• Virginia will be hosting the Cavalier Classic Tournament on Thanksgiving weekend. Chattanooga, Central Michigan and Saint Louis will be playing in the tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 24-25. Games are at 2 and 4:30 on Saturday, beginning with UVA hosting Central Michigan in the first game of the day. On Sunday, the games take place at 1 and 3:30 with Virginia hosting Saint Louis in the late game
