CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three Virginia field hockey players were named to the 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-South Region teams, as announced on Monday (Nov. 26) by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Senior midfielder Greta Ell (Plains, Pa.) was named to the first team while a pair of defenders, junior Colleen Norair (Fredericksburg, Va.) and sophomore Rachel Robinson (Mount Joy, Pa.) were named to the second team.

Ell, a second-team All-ACC honoree, was one of the co-captains on this year’s squad. She scored three goals this season, with two of them being game winners, and led the team in shots on goal this season. She competed in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Senior Game. In her four-year Cavalier career, she scored 26 goals with five assists for 57 points. This is her first regional honor.

Norair and Robinson were fixtures on the Cavalier defensive unit that logged three shutouts this season. Norair scored her first goal of the season in UVA’s 1-0 victory over Boston College in the ACC tournament. Robinson made three defensive saves this season, including two during the ACC tournament. This is Norair’s first all-region honor while it is the second-straight year that Robinson has been named to the second team.

The Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region team announcement is the first of the postseason awards to come from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the Longstreth/NFHCA Regional Player of the Year awards (November 29), followed by the Longstreth/NFHCA All-American teams (December 4) and the Longstreth/NFHCA National Collegiate Player of the Year (December 10).
