CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The Virginia wrestling team (4-4) will head south to close out 2018 at the South Beach Duals, wrestling in four duals across two days. The Cavaliers will wrestle against West Virginia (1-4) and No. 22 Utah Valley (5-2) on Saturday (Dec. 29) before closing the event against SIU Edwardsville (0-3) and No. 21 Lehigh (0-4) on Sunday (Dec. 30).

FOLLOW THE ACTION
Wrestling will begin for the Cavaliers at 11 a.m. on both days for Virginia’s first dual, while the second dual is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on both days. Fans can watch the action through a subscription-based live stream provided by TrackWrestling and linked at VirginiaSports.com. CAVALIERS IN THE RANKINGS
The Cavaliers enter the week with four wrestlers ranked at their respective weight classes in the latest InterMat rankings. Sophomore Jay Aiello (Chantilly, Va.) as the seventh-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds, while freshman Cam Coy (Jeannette, Pa.) is No. 18 at 165 pounds and junior Sam Krivus (Greensburg, Pa.) is No. 17 at 141 pounds. New to the rankings is junior Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas), who returned to the lineup in the dual at Missouri and is ranked fifth at 125 pounds following his first dual appearance this season.

VIRGINIA VS. THE FIELD AT THE SOUTH BEACH DUALS
Virginia has faced two of the four teams on the docket for this weekend’s competition at the South Beach Duals. The Cavaliers have faced West Virginia 12 times in the history of the program with a 2-10 record all-time against the Mountaineers. Virginia has faced Lehigh seven times with a 2-5 record against the Mountain Hawks. Virginia has never faced Utah Valley or SIU-Edwardsville in team competition.

Virginia’s last dual with West Virginia came in the 2013 season, a 41-6 win by the Cavaliers. The last meeting with Lehigh came in that same 2013 season with Virginia falling 19-14 to the Mountain Hawks. 
 
UP NEXT FOR THE HOOS
Virginia will return to action in 2019, traveling to Hampton, Va., to compete in the Virginia Duals. The competition will be held Jan. 11-12 at the Hampton Coliseum. Matchups for the event have not been set, but the event will include No. 15 Arizona State, Chattanooga, Kent State, No. 19 Lock Haven, Oklahoma, Old Dominion and No. 14 Virginia Tech.
