Match Play Bracket

Pinehurst, N.C. –Virginia senior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) reached the quarterfinals of the 116th North & South Women’s Amateur Championship on Wednesday with a pair of wins in match play. Redding dispatched Furman’s Anna Morgan 7&6 in the morning flight and rallied for a 2-up win against Baylor’s Gurleen Kaur in the round of 16. She faces Australian amateur Rebecca Kay at 7:16 a.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals in Pinehurst, N.C. 
 
Redding was 2-down after 13 holes of her round of 16 match before making back-to-back birdies to square the match. After both she and Kaur posted bogeys on the 16 hole, Redding won the next two holes with a par and birdie to clinch the match.
 
Redding reached match play after finishing second in medal play. She tied for first with South Carolina’s Anita Uwadia, but lost a one-hole playoff for the medal play title. 
 
Current Cavaliers Katharine PatrickBeth Lillie and Morgan Gonzales failed to advance to match play during the tournament.
