CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming teams will have current and former student-athletes compete at the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships at the William Woollett, Jr. Aquatic Center in Irvine, Calif., July 25-29.

Preliminary races will begin at noon, while the finals will start at 9 p.m. ET. The meet will be televised on the Olympic Channel, NBCSN and NBC, in addition to being streamed through usaswimming.org.

Seventeen current UVA swimmers will compete in the meet. Virginia will send Erin Earley (Orange, Conn.), Morgan Hill (Olney, Md.), Paige Madden (Mobile, Ala.), Marcella Maguire (Ridgefield, Conn.), Megan Moroney (Deerfield Beach, Fla.), Abby Richter (Henderson, Nev.), Emma Seiberlich (Audubon, Pa.), Mary Claire Tansill (Bristow, Va.) and Kyla Valls (Miami, Fla.) from the women’s team, while Ryan Baker (Arlington, Va.), Keefer Barnum (Louisville, Ky.), Brendan Casey (Santa Monica, Calif.), Robby Giller (Wilton, Conn.), Bryce Keblish (Fairfield, Conn.), Matthew Otto (Newark, Del.), Ted Schubert (Ashland, Va.) and John Whiteside (Fairfield, Conn.) will compete from the men’s team.

Baker, Hill, Keblish, Schubert and Whiteside swam in last year’s championship. Keblish and Hill highlighted the event with Keblish recording a 13th-place finish in the 50-meter butterfly and Hill finishing 21st in the 100-meter freestyle.

Additionally, former UVA swimmer Leah Smith (class of 2017) will look to reclaim her national titles at this year’s U.S. championship. Smith captured two national titles last year, placing first in the 400-meter individual medley and the 1500-meter freestyle. She qualified for the U.S. World Championship roster in all five of her events, rounding out the meet with a second-place finish in the 200, 400 and 800-meter freestyle.

The Phillip 66 National Championships will serve as a qualifier for the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships, the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, the 2019 Pan American Championships and the 2019 FINA World Championships.
