CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 10 Virginia (1-0-2) is home to host Marshall (2-2-1) at Klöckner Stadium on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

SERIES HISTORY
• Virginia and Marshall have squared off a total of five time since they first met in 1996, George Gelnovatch’s first year as head coach.
• The Cavaliers have emerged victories in all five matches and have out-scored the Herd, 16-1.
• Virginia and Marshall last met in 2004, in the season opener for both teams. Adam Cristman scored two second half goals less than eight minutes apart in a 3-0 victory. Cristman went on to a five-year MLS career.
STIFF COMPETITION
• Virginia has faced two ranked teams in its first three games for the first time since 2014, the last time Virginia won a National Championship.
• Coming into Klöckner Stadium this Friday (Sept. 14) will be No. 15 Notre Dame (ranking as of Monday, Sept. 10).
• Virginia moved to 5-4-8 against ranked opponents since the 2016 season after its draw against No. 21 Virginia Tech.

• On Friday afternoon, Virginia found itself down 1-0 to No. 21 Virginia Tech just 52 seconds into the game after a goal by Hokie sophomore Kristo Strickler on a deflection off a long throw into the box.
• The Cavaliers responded 39 seconds later on Nathaniel Crofts’ first career tally. The two teams each scored a goal in the first 91 seconds but were kept off the scoreboard for the remainder of the day in a 1-1 draw at Klöckner Stadium.
• Virginia remained unbeaten in the last 14 meetings against Virginia Tech and now own a 40-4-5 advantage in the all-time series.
CAVALIER FIRSTS
• Friday’s equalizer for sophomore Nathaniel Crofts was the first goal of his career. He has started 24 consecutive games for the Cavaliers, the longest active streak on the team.
• Classmate Irakoze Donasiyano delivered a perfect ball to Crofts, registering his first collegiate point in the match against Virginia Tech.
• Freshmen Brett Halsey and Daniel Steedman each made their first career starts on Friday afternoon.
ACC LEADER
• Seeing action in all three games in goal this year, redshirt sophomore Colin Shutler leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in goals against average (0.29), save percentage (.944) and saves per game (5.67).
• His eight saves against Virginia Tech topped his career-high established four days prior against Maryland. He was the first UVA goalkeeper to turn away eight shots since Diego Restrepo saved eight against James Madison in 2010.
NOTING MARSHALL
• Taking on defending regular season Conference USA champion and preseason No. 20, FIU, the Herd came up short in overtime in a 2-1 loss in Huntingdon on Friday (Sept. 7).
• After an 80-minute weather delay to start the match, Marshall took an initial 1-0 lead in the sixth minute on the first career goal by Vinicius Fernandes. The Panthers answered with a goal before the half and the game-winner two minutes into the first overtime.
• Marshall is in its second year under head coach Chris Grassie who led the Herd to an 8-10-1 campaign last season.
• Five different players have found the back of the net for Marshall in 2018. Junior Jonas Westmeyer leads the team with four points (1g, 2a) and notched the game-winner in the season-opener against Duquesne.
