CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Members of the Virginia women’s tennis team will take the court for the first time this season on Thursday (Sept. 20), opening play at the Big 5 Challenge hosted by TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.

Virginia will begin competition with doubles play at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday with doubles competition and will continue play with both doubles and singles at 12:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Schedules of play for Saturday and Sunday have yet to be determined as inclement weather is expected in the area and could impact play.

Players from teams from all across the nation and across several Power 5 conferences are competing at the weekend event, including: Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Georgia, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Notre Dame, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

It is the first fall competition for the Cavaliers after the originally scheduled opening weekend was cancelled due to Hurricane Florence.
