THE SERIES WITH NC STATE
Virginia and NC State have faced each other 72 times with the Wolfpack holding a slim 37-34-1 lead in the all-time series behind an active four-match win streak over the Cavaliers. Prior to this current win streak by the Wolfpack, the Cavaliers had won seven consecutive duals over NC State. In a unique situation, the series features one tie result that came in the 1958-59 season (an 18-18 result) and is one of only nine ties in program history.

A LOOK AT NC STATE
The Wolfpack is coming off a win over Duke in ACC-opening action last weekend and hold a 13-2 record on the season in dual competition. The two losses came at the hands of No. 21 Wyoming and No. 2 Ohio State. The Wolfpack have faced five nationally-ranked opponents this season with a 3-2 mark in those duals. NC State puts a strong lineup on the floor with nationally-ranked wrestlers at eight weight classes. Heavyweight and 141 pounds are the only two weights that don’t feature a ranked wrestler.

It marked the ninth dual against a nationally-ranked foe this season for the Cavaliers. Virginia won four weight classes with Mueller, Keating, Coy and Aiello claiming victories, but the six wins and bonus-points tipped the result in favor of the homestanding Tar Heels.

UP NEXT FOR VIRGINIA
The Cavaliers will continue to wrestle at home next weekend, hosting Duke in a 1 p.m. dual on Saturday (Feb. 9) afternoon at Memorial Gym.
