UVA Returns Home For ACC Clash with Duke
• Virginia returns home on Saturday when the Cavaliers welcome the Duke Blue Devils for a key ACC Coastal matchup.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m., and the game will be televised on the ACC Network.

Virginia vs. Duke
• Virginia leads the series with Duke by a narrow 37-33 margin.
• Virginia’s 42-34 victory over Duke at Scott Stadium in 2015 snapped a three-game winning streak in the series by the Blue Devils and commenced UVA’s current four-game winning streak. UVA’s 34-20 win at Wallace Wade Stadium in 2016 preceded the Cavaliers’ 28-21 win in Charlottesville in 2017, which was followed by last year’s 28-14 triumph in Durham.
• After UVA won eight games in a row in the series from 2000-07, Duke has won six of the last 11 meetings.
• At one time Duke had a 12-game advantage in the series, but by winning 26 of the last 36 meetings since 1982, UVA now leads the all-time series by four wins over the Blue Devils.

Five Top Storylines
• Duke is Virginia’s oldest opponent (1890) this season, while North Carolina is the second oldest (1892).
• ILB Jordan Mack is tied for No. 2 in the ACC with 6.0 sacks (No. 8 in the nation) and is tied for No. 2 among the nation’s linebackers, 0.5 behind Iowa State’s O’Rien Vance.
• WR Joe Reed has 2,699 career kick return yards and is averaging 28.4 yards per kick return while in a UVA uniform. If Reed passes 2,700 career kick return yards on his next return, he would be the only player in FBS history, in records dating back to 1976, that would have 2,700 career kick return yards and a career average of 28+ yards per return.
• Virginia’s defense is No. 2 in the nation with 27 sacks (4.5 per game). The Cavalier linebacking corps alone has 18.5 sacks (3.1 per game) which, not counting UVA, is more than the overall totals of 108 other FBS teams thus far.
• Virginia is one of 12 teams since 2000 that has recorded at least 27 sacks through its first six games of the season. Only Nebraska (34) in 2005, Utah (33) in 2014, Indiana (29) in 2007 and Oklahoma State (28) in 2018 had more sacks through the first six games of a season. The 27 sacks by the Cavaliers through six games is already more than the final season totals in 12 of the last 20 seasons, including 2018 when UVA had 24 through 13 games.

More on Virginia-Duke Series
•  Duke is Virginia’s oldest opponent (1890) this season; North Carolina is the second oldest (1892).
• Virginia has played 70 games vs. Duke – fifth most among all UVA opponents (UNC, VT, VMI, MD).
• The teams have played every year since 1963.

Offense Typically Excels vs. Blue Devils
• The Cavaliers have put up some impressive offensive performances against Duke in recent games.
• Virginia has scored at least 30 points in 19 of the last 36 meetings against the Blue Devils and topped 40 points seven times.
• In the last 29 games, UVA has outscored Duke, 864-525 (avg of 29.80-18.10).
• The 2011 meeting between UVA and Duke at Scott Stadium marked one of the Cavaliers’ five UVA victories in the last 11 meetings. UVA scored 17 third-quarter points in the win, including a Chase Minnifield pick-six and a Perry Jones one-yard rushing touchdown.
• In the 2010 meeting at Wallace Wade Stadium, Virginia’s 48 points were the most scored in a UVA loss and there were 103 combined points between the two teams – at the time it was the second-highest combined total in ACC history.

“ZZ STOP” Helps Lead the Way For UVA’s Top-20 Defense
• ILB Zane Zandier currently leads the team with 44 tackles as UVA is ranked No. 11 in the nation (No. 2 in the ACC) in total defense, allowing an average of 273.3 yards per game.
• Zandier intercepted his first career pass in the third quarter against ODU and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown. It is the second UVA interception by a linebacker this season (Matt Gahm at Pitt).
• Zandier’s INT is the first pick-six by a UVA linebacker since Byron Thweatt returned an interception 53 yards against Virginia Tech in 1998.
• UVA is No. 11 in the nation (No. 3 in the ACC) in rushing defense, allowing 90.0 rushing yards per game. The Cavaliers are No. 2 in the nation with 4.50 sacks per game and No. 4 in the nation (No. 1 in the ACC) in tackles for loss per game (8.8).

Reed Is Dangerous With the Ball
• WR Joe Reed is the only player in the nation with 350+ receiving yards (355) and 350+ kick return yards (453).
• He is currently No. 2 in the nation with a 34.8 yards per kick return.
• Reed is the only player in the nation with 400+ kick return yards and a return average of 33+ yards per return this season.
• Reed leads UVA with 37 receptions and four receiving touchdowns, while he is second on the squad with 355 receiving yards.

Virginia When it is Goal-to-Go
• Not counting the end of the William & Mary game when UVA was in “Victory Formation” – UVA is a perfect 12-of-12 on scoring opportunities when on offense and it is goal-to-go. UVA has scored nine touchdowns and three field goals. Two of those field goals came in the loss at Miami.

Holding Opponents in Check when it comes to total Offense
• For only the second time since 2000, UVA has started a season holding each of its first six opponents under 400 yards of total offense. The 2009 team also held its first six opponents under 400 yards of total offense. The last time UVA held its first seven opponents under 400 yards of total offense was 1995.
• UVA has yielded 400+ yards of total offense in only two of its last 19 games dating back to the start of the 2018 season. Dating back to the start of the 2017 season, UVA has yielded 400+ yards of total offense to its opponents in six of its last 32 games.

Cavaliers Have Held the Advantage in Field Position
• The Cavaliers have been +9.5 in field position so far this season.
• UVA’s average starting field position has been its own 36.3, while UVA’s opponents average is the 26.8-yard line.
• UVA won the field position battle in 2018, averaging the 33-yard line to start a drive while opponents averaged the 27.7-yard line.
