Virginia Closes Homestand Against Clemson, Georgia Tech

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia (10-15, 2-10 ACC) wraps up a four-match homestand with contests against Clemson (10-13, 4-8) and Georgia Tech (16-7, 9-3 ACC). The Cavaliers and Tigers square off on Friday (Nov. 8) in a 6:30 p.m. start before the Yellow Jackets visit for a 1 p.m. first on Sunday (Nov. 10).
PROMOTIONS
Friday evening is Alumnae Night in Memorial Gymnasium as the Cavaliers welcome back former players and their families. The match will feature a special recognition of the alumnae in attendance and a look back at the history of Virginia volleyball.
Sunday is Family Fitness and Youth Sports Day as the Cavaliers take on Georgia Tech.

FINDING THE ATTACK
Virginia bounced back to earn a 3-1 victory over Wake Forest on Sunday, hitting .319 as a team. It was the highest hitting percentage for the Hoos in ACC play this season.
Three Cavaliers finished in double figures, led by Sarah Billiard (Matthews, N.C.) and Jayna Francis (Virginia Beach, Va.) with 11 kill apiece. Middle Mattison Matthews (Charleston, S.C.) floored 10 kills while hitting .556 to balance the attack.
MATTHEWS ON A MISSION
Virginia middle blocker Mattison Matthews is threatening Virginia’s freshman record with her .397 hitting percentage. The current freshman record is held by Anna Walsh who hit .354 in 2015. The .397 mark would also rank second in single-season performances at UVA by any player. Beth Brockell holds the current Virginia record at .404, producing the mark in 1988.
Matthews currently ranks 25th in the country in hitting percentage.
