CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Four members of the Virginia women’s soccer team have been called up to the US Under-20 Women’s National Team to compete in the 2019 Nike Friendlies against Brazil and France in Lakewood, Fla., beginning on Wednesday (Dec. 11).

Junior midfielder Alexa Spaanstra (Brighton, Mich.), sophomore forward Rebecca Jarrett (Washington Township, N.J.), freshman forward Diana Ordonez (Prosper, Texas) and freshman defender Talia Staude (Atlanta, Ga.) have all been tabbed by U.S. head coach Mark Carr for the competition. In all, 34 players have been called up for the matches with the roster being split into two squads.

The matches will be streamed live on USSoccer.com, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The U.S. red team will face France at 3:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday before the U.S. blue team will face Brazil at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, the U.S. red team will face Brazil at 3:30 p.m. ET, while the U.S. blue team will face France at 6:30 p.m.

The matches are serving as preparation for February’s CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship to be held in the Dominican Republic. Players born after January 1, 2000, are age-eligible for the tournament which will send three countries to the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
