CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Virginia women’s swimming and diving team will open competition at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday (March 20) at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

The finals will begin at 6 p.m. ET  on all four days of competition. Preliminary races on Thursday, Friday and Saturday will start at 10 a.m. The top 16 from the preliminary races will advance to the finals on the last three days of competition.

How to Follow
The finals on Wednesday and Thursday will be streamed on ESPN3, while Friday’s and Saturday’s finals will be broadcast on ESPNU. The preliminary races will be streamed on the NCAA Swimming and Diving microsite at www.texassports.com. Fans can also follow the meet through live results and Meet Mobile. The Team
• The Cavaliers will have 14 swimmers and one diver compete in individual events at the NCAA Championships.
• The swimming roster is the second-largest at the meet, ranking behind Stanford who qualified 18 individual swimmers in events.
• The 14 individual swimmers is the largest NCAA roster for the Cavaliers since the program sent 16, not including alternates, in 2010.
• Four Cavaliers will compete in three individual events as junior Morgan Hill (Olney, Md.) will swim in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, sophomore Paige Madden (Mobile, Ala.) will swim in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke, redshirt junior Megan Moroney (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) will swim in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle and senior Kylie Towbin (New Canaan, Conn.) will compete on the 1m board, 3m board and platform.

Hoo’s Leading the Field
• Hill enters the meet after winning three ACC titles at the 2019 conference championships. She finished first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, in addition to helping the 800-yard freestyle relay team set a meet record on its way to a first-place finish.

• Hill ranks in the top 10 nationally in all three events, ranking ninth in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, and 10th in the 100-yard freestyle.

• Towbin advanced in all three diving events after she swept the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships. She set a school record in the platform during the competition. She also set a school record on the 3m board earlier in the season.
•  Moroney’s time in the 200-yard backstroke ranks 12th heading into the meet, while her 100-yard backstroke time ranks 19th.  She recorded a podium finish in all five of her events at the ACC Championships, including setting an ACC meet record with the 800-yard freestyle relay team. Moroney was the ACC runner-up in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke and the third-place finisher in the 200-yard freestyle.
• Madden holds the 18th-best time in the NCAA in all three of her events – the 200 and 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke. She finished second in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle at the ACC Championships.
• Freshman Alexis Wenger (Detroit, Mich.) holds the seventh-fastest performance in the 100-yard breaststroke. She was the conference runner-up in the event and helped the 200 and 400-yard medley relay teams to a podium finish at the ACC Championships.
• Sophomore Emma Seiberlich (Audubon, Pa.) captured the 17th-fastest time nationally in the 200-yard backstroke. She finished third at the ACC Championships with the career-best swim in the event.

Last Year
• Hill and Moroney earned All-America honors in individual events last year.
• Hill advanced to the consolation finals in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, earning All-America honorable mentions with the performance.
• Moroney advanced in the top heat of the 200-yard freestyle to earn All-America honors. She also swam in the consolation finals in the 200-yard backstroke to earn All-America honorable mentions in the event.
• Additionally, four out of the team’s five relays at the championship meet placed in the top 16. The 400-yard freestyle team, which included Hill, sophomore Kyla Valls (Miami, Fla.) and senior Eryn Eddy (Loveland, Colo.), who swam in the preliminary race, finished third, while Hill and sophomore Anna Pang (London) aided the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a fourth-place finish.

Tickets
Standing room only and obstructed view single session tickets may be available on a first-come first-serve basis. The tickets will go on sale the day of the event. Preliminary and diving tickets will cost $10 each day, while tickets to finals will cost $15.
