CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (11-17, 5-10 ACC) plays its final regular-season game at No. 4 Notre Dame (26-3, 13-2 ACC) on Sunday, March 3 at 12:30 p.m. at Purcell Pavilion in Notre Dame, Ind.

Noting the Cavaliers

  • Virginia is coming off a 63-45 loss at Virginia Tech on Thursday
  • Junior guard Dominique Toussaint (Staten Island, N.Y.) is closing in on 1,000 career points. She is 15 away from reaching the milestone and becoming the 36th member of the 1,000 point club. Junior guard Jocelyn Willoughby (East Orange, N.J.) scored her 1,000th career point last Thursday night (Feb. 21) in the third quarter of the Louisville game
  • Toussaint had five assists against Virginia Tech, the ninth time this season she has had five or more assists in a game
  • Toussaint comes into the game with 93 assists, poised to have her second-straight season of reaching 100 assists
  • Willoughby had a streak of five straight double-doubles snapped on Thursday at Virginia Tech, scoring 15 points with eight rebounds. Willoughby has six double-doubles in her last eight games. She has led the team in scoring in seven of the last eight games and has been the top rebounder in the last six
  • Willoughby leads the team in scoring (14.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 ppg). She is poised to be the first Virginia player to lead the team in both categories since Monica Wright did so in 2010, her senior season (the only season that Wright led the team in both)
  • Willoughby is 5-of-10 from three-point range in the last three games. She is currently shooting 40.0 percent from three-point range
  • Sophomore guard Khyasia Caldwell (Pocono Summit, Pa.) scored nine points (all in the first half) of Thursday’s game at Virginia Tech. She made her first three shots and started the game 4-of-5 from the field. Last week, she scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting against Louisville and then followed with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting against Georgia Tech. In the last three games, she is averaging 10.0 ppg. She averaged 0.9 points per game last season and is averaging 4.8 per game overall this year
  • Virginia is currently in a three-way tie for 10th place in the ACC with Duke and Virginia Tech

 
ACC/National Rankings

  • Virginia is third in the ACC in free throw percentage (74.9 percent), which ranks 33rd in the nation
  • Virginia is third in the ACC and ninth in the nation in fewest fouls per game (13.5). The Cavaliers have only had a player foul out of a game twice this season
  • Virginia currently ranks eighth in the nation in strength of schedule this season. Notre Dame has played the toughest schedule in the country
  • Jocelyn Willoughby is seventh in the ACC in rebounding, averaging 8.3 per game. She is fourth in conference-only games, averaging 8.6 per game against ACC foes
  • Willoughby is sixth in free throw shooting percentage at 82.3 percent (79-of-96). She is shooting 89.5 percent (51-of-57) from the free throw line in conference games to pace the conference
