CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The No. 22 Virginia women’s tennis team (11-4, 4-3 ACC) continues play on the road this weekend, traveling to face Pittsburgh (4-10, 0-7 ACC) and No. 3 Duke (13-2, 5-1 ACC) as ACC competition continues for the Cavaliers. 

Virginia will face the Panthers at 3 p.m. on Friday (March 22) before taking on the Blue Devils at noon on Sunday (March 24).

VIRGINIA IN THE RANKINGS
The Cavaliers moved up two spots in the national rankings this week after going on the road and picking up a 5-2 win at No. 23 Michigan last week. This week, Virginia comes in at No. 22 in the latest edition of the Oracle/ITA Women’s Tennis Rankings. 

CAVALIERS IN THE INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
Virginia is represented in the individual rankings with three players ranked. Senior Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine) comes in at No. 39 in singles, while freshman Amber O’Dell (New Milford, N.J.) makes her first appearance in the rankings at No. 68. Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) makes her first appearance of the year at No. 108 in singles.

Kelley and freshman Sofia Munera (Pereira, Colombia) are the No. 19 doubles tandem in the most recent individual rankings released. Also in the doubles rankings is the tandem of Gullickson and O’Dell at No. 70 in the polls.

A LOOK AT PITTSBURGH
Pittsburgh enters the weekend coming off a loss at the hands of the third-ranked Blue Devils. The Panthers are led by Claudia Bartolome at the top of the lineup with a 13-11 record on the season as she has played most duals at either one or two in the Pittsburgh lineup. The Panthers are in their final season of sponsoring women’s tennis.

A LOOK AT DUKE
The Blue Devils enter the weekend with a Friday match against Louisville preceding the matchup with the Cavaliers. Duke has won three straight matches since suffering its only ACC loss of the season at the hands of No. 1 North Carolina. Included in that three straight wins are victories over No. 23 Michigan, Wake Forest and Pittsburgh. The Blue Devils have three players ranked in the ITA singles rankings with Meible Chi (No. 14), Maria Mateas (No. 15) and Kelly Chen (No. 22) all in the top 25. Three doubles pairings are in the rankings with the duo of Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy leading the way at No. 24.

UP NEXT FOR THE HOOS
The Cavaliers will return home after an extended road trip for a pair of matches next week. Virginia will host Old Dominion at 3 p.m. on Thursday (March 28) before stepping back into ACC play with Georgia Tech at noon on Sunday (March 31).
