CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia softball (16-13) returns to action with a Tuesday night (March 26) trip to Radford (11-18) for a 6 p.m. first pitch against the Highlanders.
 
The game is a make-up of the originally scheduled March 5 contest, which was postponed due to inclement weather.

HOOS SINGLES
• Virginia enters the week after dropping the weekend series to Duke.
• Tuesday’s game is the first of six scheduled matchups against Big South opponents this season.
• Virginia’s next four midweek contests are all against Big South teams (Radford, Liberty twice and Longwood).
• A win on Tuesday would give Virginia its 17th-victory at the earliest date (March 26) since 2009.
• Senior Lacy Smith (Lancaster, Pa.) needs one home run to tie Virginia’s single-season school record (13).
 
MIDWEEK ROAD MASTERS
• In three midweek road games this season, Virginia’s pitching staff has posted a sparkling 0.74 ERA over 19 innings.
• Both Allyson Frei (Branchville, N.J.) and Clare Zureich (Cary, N.C.) have not allowed a run in a combined 12 innings.
• Aly Rayle (Herndon, Va.) is 1-0 in two starts with a 2.33 ERA on the road in midweek games.
• The Cavalier staff has held opponents to .132 hitting in those three contests.
• Zureich has been especially dominant, allowing just one hit while racking up 10 strikeouts.
 
BUZZING FOR TWO
• Sophomore Hayley Busby (Phoenix, Ariz.) has recorded 10 doubles on the season thus far, two shy of matching her dozen as a first-year.
• She ranks second in the ACC in doubles per game, averaging one every three games.
• At her current pace, she could threaten the program record of 19 doubles in a single season.

VERSUS RADFORD
• Virginia and Radford meet for the 41st time on Tuesday.
• The Cavaliers hold a 22-18 edge in the series, but Radford has won the last two meetings.
• Virginia holds an 8-5 all-time mark at Radford but has dropped the last three trips to the Highlanders.
