Virginia Sweeps ACC Field Performer of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia triple jumpers Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) and Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) were named the ACC Field Performers of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday (April 24).
 
Scott leapt to the top of the NCAA rankings, recording the top three jumps in the country at the Virginia Challenge. The junior captured a mark of 17.07m (56′) in the opening round to shatter the ACC triple jump record of 16.84m (55’3″), set by Dennis Ivory of Maryland in 1979, and top his UVA record that he set at the 2018 Jamaica National Championships. Additionally, Scott set  Lannigan Field and Virginia Challenge records. His jump ranks seventh in the world for the 2019 outdoor season.
 
McKee also topped her school record in the triple jump at the Virginia Challenge, reaching 13.70m (44’11.5″) with her third jump of the day. The performance ranks her fourth in the NCAA as McKee is one of just six athletes to jump beyond 44.5 feet this season. The jump is also the top mark in the ACC and ranks 17th in the world for the 2019 season.
 
The Cavaliers will return to action this weekend as Virginia concludes the regular season with the Virginia Grand Prix (April 26-27) at Lannigan Field.
