Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.), junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) were named to the 2019 Men’s Golf All-ACC Academic Team today (June 19).
 
It marked the fourth consecutive year Walsh has received the honor. He becomes just the sixth Cavalier to earn the distinction four times during their career. He was one of 10 golfers on the team who also earned All-ACC honors in 2019.
 
Orischak and Massie appeared on the team for the first time during their careers.
 
Walsh led UVA in stroke average this season with a 70.64 average. He had five top-10 finishes during his senior campaign and picked up his second career tournament victory, winning Toledo’s Inverness Intercollegiate. He was the team’s top finisher in six tournaments during the season. Walsh received an invitation to participate in the Sun Bowl All-American Classic where he placed 14th. Earlier this season, he picked up All-ACC honors for the second time in his career.
 
Orischak was second on the UVA roster in stroke average at 71.70. He posted 16 rounds of par-or-better during the season. He was the Cavaliers’ top finisher during three tournaments this year and had top-10 performances at John Burns Intercollegiate and the Clemson Invitational.
 
Massie was fourth on the team with a 72.72 stroke average. He posted 10 rounds of par-or-better and capped off the season by leading UVA to a runner-up outing at the Palmetto Intercollegiate with a seventh-place finish.
 
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
