CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The ninth-ranked Virginia women’s soccer team opens the 2019 season this weekend with a pair of home matches, hosting UC Irvine and Liberty at Klöckner Stadium. The Cavaliers will face the Anteaters at 7 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 23) before facing the Flames at 2 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 25).

Both matches will be carried on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX) which streams live on the ESPN app. ACCNX is available through participating cable and satellite TV providers that carry the ACC Network. Fans can also follow the action through live stats linked at VirginiaSports.com or by following the program’s official Twitter account @UVAWomenSoccer.
 
TICKET INFORMATION :
For all regular season home games, reserved single-game tickets can be purchased for $8 online and in advance, and $10 at the box office on game day. General admission single-game tickets are $5 online and in advance, and $8 at the box office on game day.
 
Soccer season tickets are only available for delivery either as mobile or print-at-home, however upon request and in person only including at the game day ticket office an option for point-of-sale paper stock printing is available for $10 per account.  Fans are encouraged to take advantage of discounted single game pricing by purchasing tickets in advance and using mobile ticketing options or printing their tickets at home.

The first 500 fans who purchased season tickets will receive confirmation by email and can pick up their free Virginia Soccer scarf at any of the first three home matches.

• UVA is 18-3-1 all-time against other teams from Virginia in the opening-weekend of play

THE SERIES WITH UC IRVINE
• Virginia and UC Irvine will face each other for the first time in the history of the programs
 
A LOOK AT UC IRVINE
• The Anteaters enter the season picked to finish third in the Big West preseason poll
• UC Irvine has a trio on the preseason All-Big West team in Aleah Kelley, Jessica Miclat and Maddie Newsom
• Despite having never played Virginia, the Anteaters are 4-0 all-time against ACC opponents

THE SERIES WITH LIBERTY
• Virginia and Liberty have faced each other 15 times in the history of the two programs
• The Cavaliers lead the all-time series with the Flames 15-0-0 and hold a 14-0-0 record in home matches
• The only meeting at Liberty came in the 2016 season when UVA picked up a 4-0 victory to open the season

A LOOK AT THE FLAMES
• Liberty enters the season with a Thursday night matchup at Virginia Tech to open its 2019 campaign
• The Flames were picked to finish fourth in the ASUN in a poll of their league’s coaches
• Liberty returns two of the top three scorers from a year ago in Gabrielle Farrell and Zoe Gaffney with three each
• The Flames are in the third season under the direction of head coach Lang Wedemeyer
