CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s tennis freshman Natasha Subhash (Fairfax, Va.) has been named ACC Co-Freshman of the Week by the league office it was announced on Tuesday (Jan. 21). Subhash was selected for the honor along with North Carolina freshman Kaycie Harvey.

Subhash, who is ranked No. 30 nationally in the ITA women’s singles rankings, helped power the Cavaliers to a 7-0 victory over Towson in the dual season opener this past weekend. The freshman posted a straight set victory in singles, defeating Alexa Martinez by a score of 6-0, 6-0. She only dropped on point in the first set of her match.

In doubles action, Subhash paired with sophomore Sofia Munera (Pereira, Colombia) and posted a 6-1 victory on court two to help secure the doubles point on the way to the shutout victory in the dual.

Subhash and the Cavaliers will return to action this weekend as part of the ITA Kickoff weekend. Virginia, which is ranked No. 20 in the team rankings, will face No. 17 California in the four-team regional at Kansas on Friday (Jan. 24). First serve is set for 4 p.m. ET.
