CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s tennis freshman Natasha Subhash (Fairfax, Va.) has been named the ACC Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday (Jan. 28) with the release of its weekly awards. It is the second straight week for Subhash to win the honor.

The freshman went undefeated last week in both singles and doubles to help lead the Cavaliers at the ITA Kickoff weekend regional at Kansas. Virginia, the No. 20 team in the nation, defeated both No. 16 California and No. 22 Tennessee to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

Subhash defeated No. 45 Julia Rosenqvist of California in the opening match of the weekend to help the Cavaliers clinch the 4-1 victory and won her doubles match with partner Sofia Munera (Pereira, Colombia) to help Virginia lock up the doubles point against the Bears.

In the final against Tennessee, Subhash defeated No. 72 Kaitlin Staines in straight sets to get the Cavaliers on the board as Virginia rallied for the 4-3 victory.

Virginia returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 30) when the Cavaliers host Richmond in a 3 p.m. match at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
