BOSTON – The No. 9 Virginia men’s squash team (11-4) fell 9-0 in its match against top-ranked Harvard (8-0) on Friday (Jan. 31) at the Murr Center Squash Courts.
 
Two Cavaliers forced their match into extra games against the Crimson. Senior Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) fought his way to an extra game against Adam Corcoran. Hansford fell 11-2, 10-12, 11-4, 11-0 in position six. In position two, freshman Aly Hussein (Cairo, Egypt) rallied to clinch a third-game win and force his fourth game into extra points. Hussein fell 11-8, 11-3, 8-11, 12-10 to Saadeldin Abouaish.
 
The Cavaliers will return to action Saturday to face No. 20 Middlebury (4-8) in a 1:30 p.m. match at Harvard’s Murr Center Squash Courts.
 
Match Notes:

  •  Tonight’s match was the first meeting between the two programs.
  •  Virginia’s loss to the 2019 national champions, Harvard, snapped a six-match winning streak for the Cavaliers.
  • Virginia has faced five teams ranked in the top-20 in its last six matches.
