No. 9 Virginia Sweeps No. 20 Middlebury, 9-0
BOSTON – The No. 9 Virginia men’s squash team (13-4) swept No. 20 Middlebury (4-9) at Harvard’s Murr Center Squash Courts on Saturday (Feb. 1).
The Cavaliers also recorded a 9-0 win for their match against Williams that was schedule for 6 p.m. on Saturday but was cancelled.
Four Cavaliers recorded a 3-0 victory in the team’s win over Middlebury, including junior Andrew Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.), who clinched the winning point with a score of 11-7, 12-10, 11-3 against Alexander Merrill in position nine. Freshman Omar El Torkey (New Cairo, Egypt) won at the top of the order 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 against Nick Bermingham, while sophomore Will Holey (Greenwich, Conn.) defeated Jacob Ellen 11-4, 11-7, 11-5 in position three and freshman Cullen Little (Baltimore, Md.) defeated Jacob Kagan 11-7, 11-6, 11-2 in position four.
Additionally, freshman Aly Hussein (Cairo, Egypt) defeated Will Cembalest in position two with a score of 11-7, 9-11, 11-3 11-5. Redshirt freshman Peter Miller (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) went 11-7, 11-8, 11-13, 10-12, 11-0 against John Epley in position five, senior Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) went 11-5, 3-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-5 against Nate Moll in position six, junior William Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) went 9-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-6 against PK Keller in position seven and freshman Teddy Durfee (Bedford, N.Y.) went 12-10, 4-11, 11-7, 11-5 against Wiatt Hinton in position eight.
Virginia will conclude the regular season on Sunday (Feb. 2), traveling to Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center in Cambridge, Mass., to face MIT at 11 a.m.

• The win is Virginia’s sixth against a ranked opponent inside the top 20 in seven matches.
• The Cavaliers’ match against Williams, which was not played, counts as a 9-0 win for Virginia.
• Virginia’s win over Middlebury was the team’s fourth 9-0 victory in matches played this season.
• Virginia moves to 3-0 in the series against Middlebury.
• Saturday’s match was the first time Virginia has swept the Panthers.
