Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia women’s golf team hosts the first multi-team tournament in the program’s history starting Sunday in Guadalajara, Mexico. The IJGA Collegiate Invitation will be held at the Guadalajara Country Club from Feb. 16-18. The event is being coordinated by the Mexican Golf Federation.
 
The tournament features 54 holes of play at the par-72, 6,437-yard Guadalajara Country Club. The 14-team field will tee off at 8:15 CST each day using the first and 10th tees. The first round will take place Sunday, the second round Monday, the first nine holes of the final round on Monday afternoon (approximately 1:15 p.m. CTS) and the final nine holes will be played Tuesday.
 
The field includes six teams ranked in Golfstat’s current top 25 poll. Teams participating are (Golfstat ranking): Arizona State (2), Arkansas (15), Baylor (25), California (72), Clemson (36), Florida State (30), LSU (18), Maryland (58), Michigan (49), South Carolina (5), Stanford (8), Tennessee (42), Texas A&M (37) and Virginia (41).
 
The Cavaliers’ lineup features senior Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.), junior Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.), sophomores Haeley Wotnosky (Wake Forest, N.C.) and Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.) and freshmen Virginia Bossi (Como, Italy).  First-year Celeste Valinho (Jacksonville, Fla.) will compete as an individual.
