Tiger Paw Invite Results

Clemson, S.C. –Junior Halle Hazzard (Commack, N.Y.) set a UVA record in the 60m dash to lead the Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams on Friday (Feb. 14) as members of the program competed at the Tiger Paw Invitational at the Clemson University Indoor Complex in Clemson, S.C., and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the Track & Tennis Complex in Boston.  
 
The Tiger Paw Invite
Hazzard captured a career-best time of 7.30 in the prelims of the 60m dash before dropping her time again in the semifinals to record a time of 7.24. In the finals, she captured a time of 7.27 to finish fifth overall at the meet. Her semifinal time ranks 12th in the NCAA this season. Hazzard recorded a career-best time in the event for the second consecutive meet after running a time of 7.31 at the Doc Hale Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va., on Feb. 7.
 
Junior Jordan Willis (Williamsburg, Va.) also recorded a career-best time in an event. Willis ran a time of 46.86 to place eighth in the 400m dash. His time is the third fastest in program history and second-fastest time by an ACC competitor this season.
 
Freshman Jada Seaman (Pikesville, Md.) reached 6.22m (20’5″) on her fifth attempt in the long jump. Her performance placed her seventh at the meet and fifth all-time in UVA history. She also leads the ACC in the event and ranks 18th nationally.
 
In the men’s long jump, senior Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) recorded a mark of 7.44m (24’5″) on his third attempt of the series. He placed sixth overall at the competition. Sophomore Ayende Watson (Baltimore, Md.) recorded a jump of 7.19m (23’7.25″) to finish 12th in the event.
 
Junior Brittany Jones (Bloomfield, Conn.) placed seventh in the shot put, recording a mark of 15.54m (51’0″).
 
The David Hemery Valentine Invitational
Junior Hannah Moran (Salem, Va.) led the Cavaliers at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Moran finished 16th in the 5,000m run. She recorded a career-best time of 16:39.07.  
 
Graduate student Haley Yost (New Tripoli, Pa.) captured a time of 4:47.14 in the mile to finish 30th.
 
Junior Kiera Bothwell (Springfield, Va.) ran a career-best time of 9:36.53 in the 3,000m. She finished 44th in the event.
  
Virginia Returns to Action 
The Cavaliers will conclude the regular season on Saturday as Virginia competes in the final day of competition at the Tiger Paw Invite and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Events will begin at 9 a.m. at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, while the Tiger Paw Invite will begin at 11 a.m.
