No. 9 Virginia Blanks No. 17 MIT
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 9 Virginia men’s squash team (14-4) concluded the regular season on Sunday (Feb. 2) with a 9-0 win against No. 17 MIT (13-6) at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center.
Freshman Teddy Durfee (Bedford, N.Y.) recorded the first point of the match, defeating Neel Das in position eight 11-3, 11-3, 11-3. Freshman Aly Hussein (Cairo, Egypt) followed, topping Joe O’Connor 11-7, 11-4, 11-8 in position two as redshirt freshman Peter Miller (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) defeated Brad Levin 11-13, 11-2, 11-8, 11-9 in position five to give the Cavaliers a 3-0 lead.
Freshman Cullen Little (Baltimore, Md.) went 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 11-5 in position four against Eli Kramer before junior Andrew Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) clinched the match point with an 11-9, 9-11, 12-10, 11-6 win against Wonjune Kang in position nine.
The Cavaliers added wins with freshman Omar El Torkey (New Cairo, Egypt) defeating Aman Sanger 11-6, 11-5, 11-6 in position one, junior William Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) defeating Robert Williamson 9-11, 11-4, 11-8, 13-11 in position seven and senior Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) defeating Keith Lamp 4-11, 6-11, 13-11, 13-11, 11-3 in position six. Sophomore Will Holey (Greenwich, Conn.) rounded out the match with an 11-4, 11-9, 16-14 win against Henry Martin in position three.
The match concludes the regular season. The Cavaliers will head to Washington on February 7 for the Mid-Atlantic Squash Championships.

• Virginia competed against four-straight ranked opponents and faced seven top-20 ranked teams in its last eight matches played.
• The Cavaliers are 3-0 all-time against the Engineers.
• The sweep was the first for Virginia against MIT.
