Cavaliers Open Play at John Burns Intercollegiate

Lihu’e, Hawai’i – The Virginia men’s golf team shot 9-over 297 during the first round of the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii to finish the day in 12th place. UNC Wilmington and BYU lead the 21-team field at 1-under 287.
Seniors Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and Chris White (Garden City, N.Y.) led the Cavaliers with scores of 1-over 73. They are tied for 24th place. Junior Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) is in 58th place after shooting 3-over 75, junior WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines), is 75th at 76 and freshman Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) ended the round 89th with a score of 77. Senior Nathan Chuwait (Herndon, Va.), who is competing as an individual, posted a score of 78 and is in 108th place.
The second round of the event gets underway at 8 a.m. HT with a shot gun start. The final round is Saturday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
