BLACKSBURG, Va. – Junior Halle Hazzard (Commack, N.Y.) topped her UVA record in the 60m dash to lead the Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams on the opening day of the Doc Hale Elite Meet at Rector Field House.
 
Hazzard ran a time of 7.31 in both the prelims and the finals of the 60m dash to set a UVA record and finish first at the Doc Hale Elite Meet. In addition to topping her previous school record in the event, her time ranks 17th in the NCAA and third in the ACC this season.
 
Senior Alexis Woodley (Chesapeake, Va.) captured the top time in the 60m hurdles at 8.35.
 
In the women’s unseeded pole vault, senior Tedi DeMaria (Feura Bush, N.Y.) and freshman Riley Larsen (Point Pleasant, N.J.) finished 1-2, respectively, as both athletes cleared a height of 3.77m (12-4.5). Larsen recorded a collegiate-best mark with the jump and moved into seventh all-time at UVA with the performance.
 
Sophomore Colin Duignan (Bronxville, N.Y.) placed third in the men’s unseeded pole vault, clearing a height of 4.80m (15-9).
 
Senior Anna Jefferson (Warren, Mich.) joined Hazzard in the finals of the 60m dash. The senior ran a time of 7.43 to finish third in the event.
 
Sophomore Sydney Coppolino (Somerdale, N.J.) and graduate student Haley Yost (New Tripoli, Pa.) placed third and fourth in the 800m, respectively. Coppolino recorded a time of 2:11.94, while Yost ran a time of 2:12.14.
 
Freshman Ethan Zeh (Wayne, Pa.) captured a time of 1:54.51 to place fourth in the men’s 800m.  
 
Virginia will conclude the Doc Hale Elite Meet on Saturday with events beginning at 11 a.m.
