Hilton Head, S.C. – The Virginia women’s golf team could not make up any ground on the field and finished the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in 15th place. The Cavaliers shot 21-over 305 on Saturday for a two-day total of 45-over 613. No. 7 Wake Forest leads the field at 7-over 575.
 
All 17 teams in the field are currently ranked in the top-40 of Golfstat’s standings.
 
UVA was led during the second round by sophomore Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.) who turned in a score of 2-over 73 on the par-71 Long Cove Club course. She is in 40th place at 9-over 151. Freshman Virginia Bossi (Como, Italy) continued to hold down the team’s best position on the leaderboard. She shot 3-over 74 for the second consecutive round to end the day in 22nd position.
 
Sophomore Haeley Wotnowsky (Wake Forest, N.C.) is in 74th place at 159 while senior Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) in one shot behind her in 76th position. Junior Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) will enter the final round in 80th place at 162.
 
Wake Forest’s Emilia Migliaccio leads the individual competition at even par 142.
 
The final round of the tournament gets underway Sunday at 8 a.m. Virginia will be paired with Florida State and Furman. Those teams will tee off starting at 8:50 a.m. from the 10th tee. Live results are online at Golfstat.com.
