ORLANDO, Fla. – Virginia women’s tennis freshman Emma Navarro (Charleston, S.C.) has advanced to the third round of the 2021 NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Championship with a victory on Monday (May 23) at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

Navarro, the No. 3 seed in the 64-player championship, defeated Haley Giavara of Cal 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the opening round on Sunday. In the second round, she rebounded from a 6-1 loss in her first set against Ilze Hattingh of Arizona State to win the second two 7-5 and 6-0.  She will take on Meg Kowalski of Georgia in Tuesday’s Round of 16.
