BERKELEY, Calif. – Sophomore Emma Navarro competed at the Berkeley Tennis Club Women’s 60k Challenge, an ITF World Tennis Tour tournament in the San Francisco Bay area, this week.

Navarro was the top seed in the qualifying draw, topping Elysia Bolton 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (6) to earn a spot in the main draw.

In her opening match of the main draw, she defeated Kyoka Okamura 7-5, 6-2. Okamura is currently ranked No. 291. Navarro topped fellow collegian Maria Kozyreva of Saint Mary’s 7-5, 6-3 in the Round of 16 on Thursday. In Friday’s quarterfinal against No. 307 Marcela Zacaris of Mexico, the two split the first two sets, both by 7-5 scores, before Zacaris took the third set 6-2.

Navarro moved up to a career-best WTA world ranking of No. 317 in singles this week.
