CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 7 Virginia women’s tennis (5-0) hosts No. 18 UCF (2-1) on Friday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • The Cavaliers moved back up to No. 7 in this week’s ITA team rankings after dipping to No. 9 the previous week
  • Singles and doubles rankings will not be updated until Feb. 22
  • The Cavaliers topped No. 16 Stanford 4-3 to earn an invitation to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, being held next week in Wisconsin
  • Emma Navarro was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week after winning the deciding match against No. 9 Connie Ma of Stanford
  • Elaine Chervinsky went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles during ITA Kickoff Weekend to earn ACC Freshman of the Week honors
  • Sofia Munera has started dual season 5-0 in singles along with Chervinsky
  • Natasha Subhash and Chervinsky are 5-0 in doubles in dual matches and 7-2 overall this season

NOTING UCF

  • The Knights were ranked No. 10 in the ITA team rankings before falling 4-0 to then-No. 25 Auburn in the ITA Kickoff Weekend final. The Knights are No. 18 in this week’s poll
  • Last season, the Knights posted a 20-5 overall record and went on to win their second consecutive American Athletic Conference title and its seventh conference title in program history
  • UCF continued to the NCAA Tournament where it earned its second-straight Sweet Sixteen appearance. They return eight players from that squad plus two newcomers
  • Evgeniya Levashova, who was last season’s AAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, ranks No. 37 in singles and No. 50 in doubles
  • This is the first-ever meeting between the two schools

ON THE HORIZON

  • The Cavaliers will be one of 16 teams competing at the 35th Annual ITA National Team Indoor Championships, being held Feb. 11-14 at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisc.
