CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team opens spring play this weekend at Georgia Southern’s Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate in Statesboro, Ga. The field will complete in 54 holes of stroke play at the Georgia Southern University Golf Course. There is no team scoring for this event.

The schedule calls for 36 holes of stroke play on Sunday starting at 8:30 a.m. The final round on Monday will also feature an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The field features individuals from Georgia Southern, East Tennessee State, Ohio State, Western Kentucky, USCB, Clemson, Virginia, Marshall, Kansas State, West Virginia, Tennessee and College of Charleston.

Virginia players who will participate include sophomores Chris Fosdick and George Duangmanee, Jaron Leasure, senior Sam Jung and freshman Deven Patel.

The last time the Cavaliers competed in the event was 2020 when Andrew Orischak placed second overall at 5-under 211.

Jones Cup Invitational
Virginia senior Pietro Bovari is also in competition this weekend at the Jones Cup Invitational at the Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, Ga. The three-day, 54-hole stroke play competition run through Sunday. Also in the field are UVA signees Ben James and Bryan Lee. Live scoring can be found here.
