CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (3-19, 0-12 ACC) plays at Wake Forest (12-12, 2-11 ACC) on Sunday, Feb.13 at 4 p.m. at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • This is the Cavaliers’ last road game of the regular season. They close out the year with four-straight home contests
  • Thursday’s game at Louisville was canceled. It was the seventh game on UVA’s schedule to be canceled or postponed this season. Virginia was charged with a forfeit for the game
  • Virginia matched its highest offensive output of the season when it scored 70 points on Tuesday against Syracuse. UVA shot 48.1 percent from the field (26-of-54), their second-best shooting night of the season
  • Virginia went 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the field in the fourth quarter against the Orange. It was the second time this season shooting better than 70.0 percent from the field in a quarter
  • Virginia has won the rebounding battle in each of the last three games including being +2 against Syracuse. The Cavaliers grabbed a season-high 49 rebounds against Clemson
  • 22 of Virginia’s 26 baskets against Syracuse were assisted
  • Junior guard Taylor Valladay had 10 of those assists, the most by a Cavalier since Kylie Kornegay-Lucas had 10 against Notre Dame on Jan. 26, 2020
  • Valladay is one of just three ACC players to dish 10 assists in a game this season, joining Teisha Hyman of Syracuse and Olivia Miles of Notre Dame. Miles has five double-digit assist performances this season while Hyman and Valladay each have one
  • Sophomore guard Kaydan Lawson also had a career high for assists with five
  • Valladay ranks seventh in the ACC in assists per game (3.6) and ninth in assist to turnover ratio (1.29)
  • Sophomore guard Mir McLean, a mid-year transfer from UConn, had her first career 20-point game on Tuesday against Syracuse. McLean went 8-of-12 from the field. She is now averaging double figures at 11.4 points per game
  • Amandine Toi scored 13 of her 18 points against Syracuse in the fourth quarter
  • Student center Eleah Parker matched her season high with 12 rebounds against Clemson
  • Parker has moved up to sixth in the ACC in blocked shots per game at 1.65. She averages 2.5 blocked shots per game against conference opponents, tied for second in the ACC
  • Parker has blocked 33 shots this season. Her next closest teammate is junior forward London Clarkson with 10

SCOUTING WAKE FOREST

  • Wake Forest has lost its last nine games
  • Wake Forest ranks third in the ACC in three-point shooting defense with opponents making 28.6 percent of their attempts
  • Jewel Spear is ranked in the top-10 in the conference in 13 different statistical categories, including leading the ACC in scoring at 19.3 points per game
  • Spear also leads the ACC in most three-point categories, including making 3.8 treys per game
