CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior forward Jayden Gardner (Wake Forest, N.C.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday (Feb. 14).

Gardner averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals as Virginia posted victories over then-No. 7 Duke (69-68) and Georgia Tech (63-53).

Gardner had a game-high 17 points and eight rebounds in Virginia’s 10th all-time win over Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Feb. 7.

Gardner added a game-high 26 points, seven rebounds and career-high three blocked shots in the Cavaliers’ home win vs. Georgia Tech on Feb. 12.

The senior transfer from East Carolina shot 18 of 38 from the field (47.4%) and 7 of 7 from the free throw line (100%) in the two wins.

Gardner leads UVA in scoring (14.9) and rebounding (6.8). He ranks seventh in the ACC in field goal percentage (51.7%), eighth in free throw percentage (81.4%), 11th in rebounding and 12th in scoring.

Virginia (16-9, 10-5 ACC) battles Virginia Tech in a Smithfield Commonwealth Clash tonight. Tipoff at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN.
