CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Fresh off its third consecutive MASC title, the No. 7 Virginia men’s squash team (12-5) is set to take on No. 2 Harvard (12-1) in the quarterfinal round of the Potter Cup on Friday (Feb. 17) at 11 a.m. hosted by University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Potter Cup is the top division of the CSA National Championship which features the top-eight teams in the country. Virginia has earned its second berth in the competition as the seventh seed. Pennsylvania, Harvard, Trinity and Yale earned the top-four seeds while Princeton, Columbia, Virginia and Drexel round out the rest of the field.

FROM HEAD COACH MARK ALLEN:

“Our comeback conference championship win over Drexel on February 6 along with November’s 5-4 win over Cornell have secured our spot as the seventh seed in the Potter Cup of the National Championships. After having our January fixture against Harvard cancelled at the last minute, it will be great to have the opportunity to test ourselves against them now in the first round.”

“With the women’s team also currently ranked seventh, and with no more influential matches between now and the close of season rankings, it will be the first time we have earned spots in the A division for both the men’s and women’s teams, which represents a significant milestone for our program. I’d like to congratulate all 28 of our players for this wonderful success and thank them for all the hard work that has gone into the achievement.”
