CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (4-20, 1-15 ACC) hosts Pittsburgh (11-15, 2-13 ACC) on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Virginia is coming off a 67-54 victory against Duke on Thursday night, snapping a 15-game losing streak. It was the team’s first ACC victory since Feb. 27, 2020
  • Amandine Toi had her fourth 20-point game of the year against Miami, going 7-of-9 from the field and 3-of-3 from three-point range. Toi helped push UVA out to its early lead in the game, scoring 16 points in the first half
  • Mid-season UConn transfer Mir McLean had her second double-double in the last three games with 12 points and a career-high 14 rebounds against Duke. In her last three games, she is averaging 11.6 points and 11.3 rebounds per game
  • McLean leads the team in rebounding at 8.3 per game
  • Taylor Valladay led the Cavaliers with 17 points against Miami. It was one point shy of her season high of 18 scored at North Carolina. Valladay had 10 points at Wake Forest on Sunday, giving her 13.5 ppg average in the last two games
  • Valladay is averaging 10.1 points per game in ACC contests. She averaged 6.7 points per game in non-conference games
  • Valladay ranks seventh in the ACC in assists per game at 3.5
  • London Clarkson scored a then-career-high 11 points at Wake Forest and then contributed 10 against Miami, the first time she has scored in double figures in back-to-back games. She then added 12 points in the victory against Duke. Going into the Wake Forest game, she was averaging 3.6 points per game. In the last three games, she has averaged 11.0 points per game
  • The Duke game was the second time this season UVA had four players finish the game in double figures in scoring. They also had four in the UCLA game
  • Eleah Parker has 37 blocked shots so far this season. She is nine shy of breaking into the program’s top-10 list for blocks in a single season
  • Parker has 270 career blocks. She ranks 4th among active players in blocked shots and is 10th among active players in blocks per game at 2.45
  • Parker ranks sixth in the ACC in blocked shots per game at 1.61
  • Virginia has been tied in rebounding or outrebounded its opponent in each of the last six games including going +3 against Duke and +11 against Clemson
  • After going 9-of-26 from the free throw line against Clemson, the Cavaliers are 58-of-73 (79.4 percent) including going 18-of-19 against Miami. The 94.7 percent efficiency against the Hurricanes was the team’s best since going 8-of-8 at Michigan State on Nov. 28, 2018
  • The Notre Dame at Virginia game postponed from Tuesday, Jan. 25, and set to be rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 22, will not take place and result in a Virginia forfeit

  • Pittsburgh is just ahead of Virginia in the ACC rankings in 14th place
  • Pitt is coming off a 60-50 loss at Miami on Thursday night
  • The Panthers two conference wins have been against Wake Forest and an overtime victory against Clemson
  • Pitt topped Rutgers 58-50 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge for its biggest win of the year
  • Pitt ranks ninth in the nation in rebounds per game (44.3), leading the ACC
  • The Panthers are second in the conference in blocked shots per game (5.0)
  • Rita Igbokwe is seventh in the ACC in rebounding (7.2 per game) and third in blocked shots per game (2.3)
  • The all-time series is tied 5-5. Pittsburgh holds 4-3 edge in ACC regular-season contests
  • Virginia has won the last three meetings including a 66-55 victory in Charlottesville in 2020

ON THE HORIZON

  • Virginia closes out the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 24 by hosting No. 24 North Carolina at 7 p.m. The game will be Virginia’s Senior Day celebration with Eleah Parker, Amandine Toi and Tihana Stojsavljevic being honored in a pregame ceremony at approximately 6:45 p.m.
