CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team competes in its first team event of the spring this weekend when the Cavaliers play in the Watersound Invitational at Sharks Tooth Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla. The three-day, 54-hole tournaments gets underway Sunday. The course is the site of the 2022 ACC Championships that will take place April 22-25.

The Cavaliers’ lineup for the tournament includes sophomores George Duangmanee, Chris Fosdick and Jaron Leasure, junior Pietro Bovari and senior Jimmy Massie. Sam Jung will compete as an individual.

UVA is paired with NC State and Wake Forest during Sunday’s opening round. Those teams will tee off starting at 10:20 a.m. from the 10th tee.

The 14-team field features Alabama, Arkansas, Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Last year UVA placed ninth at the event (titled the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational). Bovari was the Cavaliers’ top finisher, placing 30th at 4-over 220. E

UVA opened the spring at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate where all five UVA performers finished in the top-10, led by Leasure’s third-place showing in his second collegiate event.
