“Do not call this faceoff-first man a FOGO!  Despite consistently proving himself at the faceoff X this fall, Jason proved he can do much more for our program.  He is one of the more intuitive short-stick defenders, grasping the defensive schematics quickly and improving his off-ball play.  In addition, Jason’s offensive game is beginning to blossom as he exploits the chances to push the ball forward in transition.”

2017
• Appeared in all 15 games as the primary faceoff specialist 
• Won 54.5 percent (144-of-264) of his draws
• Scored three goals and dished out one assist
• Picked up 33 ground balls
• Was 15-of-18 at the faceoff X against High Point
• Picked up five ground balls against Cleveland State
• Scored goals against Loyola, North Carolina and Duke

2016
• Appeared in 13 of UVA’s 15 games
• Missed the last two games of the year with an injury
• Finished No. 9 in the nation and No. 2 in the ACC with a .624 faceoff win pct.
• Had a career day at Drexel, winning 14-of-18 faceoffs and picking up 12 ground balls
• Won 13-of-19 faceoffs against Penn
• Won 8-of-13 faceoffs against Saint Joseph’s
• Won the first faceoff of the Cornell game before leaving for the remainder with an injury
• Went 14-of-17 at No. 2 Notre Dame
• Won 17-of-26 faceoffs and scored his first collegiate goal in OT win over No. 8 Johns Hopkins 

2015
• Appeared in all 15 of UVA’s games
• Finished the season at 109-of-216 on faceoffs
• Made collegiate debut at No. 7 Loyola (Feb. 7)
• Went 4-of-5 on faceoffs against No. 16 Drexel (Feb. 14)
• Went 8-of-11 on faceoffs at Rutgers (Feb. 21)
• Was 12-of-21 against No. 4 Notre Dame (March 14) on faceoffs
• Was 6-of-9 on faceoffs against Penn (April 25)
• Recognized on ACC Academic Honor Roll

PREVIOUS SCHOOL
• Transferred to Virginia from Ohio State where he did not play lacrosse due to knee injury sustained at Landon
• Recorded a 4.0 GPA both semesters in Columbus

HIGH SCHOOL
• Earned two varsity letters at the Landon School
• Earned the prestigious Khari Baten Award from Landon which is given to the player who best portrays heart, hard work and toughness
• Part of Landon’s 2012 IAC championship team
• Earned two letters as a wrestler at Landon
• Voted team’s Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2010 and 2011
• Two-time All-IAC selection in wrestling at 125 pounds
• Twice made it to the Round of 12 at the National Prep Wrestling Tournament at 125 pounds
• State finalist in wrestling
• Inducted into the Cum Laude Society for high-performing academic achievement
• Finalist in the 2013 Congressional Art Competition for Maryland’s Eighth Congressional District, sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives
• Headmaster’s List (honor roll) all four years
• Won the Gold Key Award, the highest level of achievement on the regional level by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers

PERSONAL
• Son of Harry and Kim Murphy
• Has an older brother, Justin
• Brother Justin is a senior and the starting face-off specialist at Princeton
• Enjoys painting, photography and spending time with his family
• Coached by father Harry in wrestling
• Enrolled at UVA in the fall of 2014 and walked onto the lacrosse team
