Brittanie Vaughn has been an assistant athletic trainer at Virginia since 2019, where she works with the women’s basketball team. Vaughn is responsible for the overall daily health care of UVA student-athletes, including prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for injuries and illnesses.
Prior to her arrival on Grounds, Vaughn spent four years working with the women’s basketball, football and track & field teams at Texas State, where she also supervised graduate assistants and was the preceptor for undergraduate athletic training students.
She began her career working at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, La., starting as an assistant athletic trainer before being promoted to the interim head athletic trainer. Vaughn earned a bachelor of science degree in exercise science from South Alabama in 2010 and a masters of athletic training from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2013.
Vaughn is a certified athletic trainer and holds certifications in CPR/First Aid/AED and Technica Gavilan. She is also a member of both NATA and SWATA.
