• Went 7-5 with 2.17 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 87 innings
• Batted .408, with seven homers and 46 RBI in 125 at-bats; had .744 slugging pct.
• Finalist for Roanoke player of the year
• Played travel team baseball with Roanoke Badgers

• Youngest of four; has older brother, Michael, and sisters Allison and Carrie, who graduated from UVa
• Won an individual state championship in age-group swimming and twice qualified for Virginia Zone Team
• Played high-school basketball for Bill Hodges, Larry Bird’s coach at Indiana State
