UVA scored the first 24 points after holding NC State scoreless on its first eight drives

Four different Cavaliers scored on the night as Virginia (1-2) earned its first win of the season, a 4-0 triumph over American (0-2-1) on Friday night (Aug. 28) at Klöckner Stadium. AJ Smith matched a career-high in points with one goal and one assist while Prince Abanfo and Chase Duke both registered goal involvements in their first career starts.

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, UVA opens the season against ACC foe NC State at sold-out Scott Stadium.
