The creation of Cavalier Sports Nutrition is another example of the dedication the University of Virginia Athletics Department places on Uncompromised Excellence.The creation of the student-athlete training table in John Paul Jones Arena is a huge step forward to ensuring that the student-athletes receive high quality meals to improve performance. Meals and recipes are created by a Certified Executive Chef and a staff of chefs, cooks and attendants make sure the food is prepared and served to the highest standards.
In an effort to continue moving forward with support services for student-athletes at The University of Virginia, the Athletics Department hired a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics to help educated the student-athletes and coaches on appropriate food choices to enhance performance. The University of Virginia became one of less than two dozen NCAA Division I schools that have a full-time nutrition specialist on staff for their student-athletes.
The sports nutritionist works closely with the strength coaches, athletics trainers, food service, coaches and the student-athletes to create an environment of “Education not Deprivation”. Helping student-athletes make the proper choices of foods for good health and optimal performance is the primary goal of Cavalier Sports Nutrition.
