With a complete redesign masterminded by Davis Love III, there is a new era of golf at Birdwood Golf Course.

The uniquely designed golf facilities at Boar’s Head Resort include 18 championship golf holes along with a new six-hole par-3 course and a putting course that is nearly one acre in size. While serving resort guests, members and the community, the course is also the official home course of the University of Virginia men’s and women’s golf teams.

“People are going to love the new Birdwood Golf Course because it is actually a new course, Love said upon Birdwood’s reopening in July of 2020. “There are holes on all-new land, holes going in different directions than people remembered, plus a new putting course, short course and a new team building and practice facility for UVA men’s and women’s teams.”

In it’s inaugural year following the redesign, Birdwood Golf Course was ranked by Golf Magazine as one of the top-10 courses in all of Virginia.

Birdwood Golf Course first opened in 1984 and was designed by Lindsay Ervin. Prior to its redesign, Golf Digest ranked as one of the top-10 collegiate courses in American and Washington Golf Monthly rated the course as one of the Mid-Atlantic’s top 100 courses.
