RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Virginia track and field team was one of over 90 teams that competed in the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State University. The Cavaliers faced one of the most talented fields of competition they have seen this year.

The women’s team was highlighted by Nicole Kimbrough (5.91m) and Kelly Miller (5.59m) who finished sixth and 13th respectively in the long jump. Hillary Wilson (11.24m) placed fourth and Libby Kluka (11.16m) finishedfifth in the shot put. Kluka (42.12m) and Wilson (40.92m) also placed eighth and ninth respectively in the discus throw. Leslie Satchell placed fifth in the 100 meter run with a time of (12.09) and Kim Turko posted a sixth place finish in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of (14.50). Dana Thul placed eighth in the Javelin throw with a distance of (42.19m).

The men’s 4×800 meter relay team finished third overall (2nd collegiate) with a time of (7:29.66). Rauhn Turner finished 19th in the 400 meter hurdles and Bob Thiele placed 39th in the 5,000 meter run to highlight Virginia’s finishes.

The track and field teams will return to action on Saturday, (April 4), when the Cavaliers host the Abramson Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
