DALTON, Ga.–The University of Virginia golf team is in 13th place after the second round of the Carpet Capital Classic Tournament on Saturday (Oct. 7). Georgia Tech leads the 15-team tournament with a 10 under par total of 566. Georgia is in second place with a seven under par total of 569 and Clemson is third with a six under par total of 570. Virginia is 13th with a team score of 598.

Nick Cassini of Georgia leads the individual competition with a seven under par total of 137 after rounds of 65 and 72 on the par 72 course at The Farm. Bryce Molder (70-68) of Georgia Tech and Kyle Thompson (69-69) of South Carolina are tied for second with six under par totals of 138.

Virginia senior Cameron Yancey is the top player for the Cavaliers. He is tied for eighth place in the individual competition with rounds of 69-73 for a two under par total of 142.

Also participating in the tournament for UVa are sophomore Justin Goodhue (74-77, 151), freshman Rusty Kennedy (75-77, 152), senior Mike Mitchell (79-77, 156) and junior Steve Marino (76-82, 158).

The 54-hole tournament concludes on Sunday (Oct. 8).
