GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia women’s basketball player Brandi Teamer (Joliet, Ill.) earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, the ACC announced on Monday.

A starter in all 10 games, Teamer led four Cavaliers in double-figure scoring against Ohio State on Dec. 18. The forward had 19 points, six rebounds, and a career-high five steals. In the 78-65 win over Florida International, the freshman recorded her third career double-double with 15 points and 10 boards while helping head coach Debbie Ryan to her 550th career win.

On the week, Teamer had 34 points, 16 rebounds, and six steals. She stands second in team scoring with 11.7 ppg and is the top rebounder with 8.3 rpg.

The ACC honor is the second of Teamer’s collegiate career.

The Cavaliers (6-4) play Long Island tonight in the first round of Tulane’s DoubleTree Classic in New Orleans. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT (9 p.m. ET). Charlottesville’s WINA Radio will broadcast the game live.
