Virginia Stands Third at Birkdale Classic

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.- – The Virginia men’s golf team stands third after the first two rounds of the Birkdale Collegiate Classic on Saturday.

UNC Charlotte leads the field of 15 teams with a two-under 574. Richmond is second with a 583 (+7). The Cavaliers follow with a a590 (+14). Austin Peay State is fourth with a 593 (+17).

UNC Charlotte’s Andrew Dibetetto is first with a five-under 139, while four players, including UVa sophomore Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas), are tied for second with a two-under 142 each.

Senior Kevin O’Connell (Potomac, Md.) and junior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) are tied for ninth with a 147 (+3) apiece. Junior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) shot a 154 (+10), while sophomore Mark Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with a 158 (+14). Playing as an individual, sophomore Dan Gabel (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) is tied for 29th with a 153 (+9).

Play at the Birkdale Classic concludes on Sunday, March 13.
