Cavaliers Win Titles at Wake Forest Open

Virginia’s Yemi Ayeni unleashed a toss of 190′ 11″ to not only win the title at the Wake Forest Open in the discus, but also break the school record by 10 inches today in Winston-Salem. Ayeni’s toss is a personal-best mark by over five feet and easily qualifies him for the NCAA East Regional meet.
All-American Erin Crawford was the only competitor to break one minute, running 58.83 en route to the title in the 400 intermediate hurdles and qualifying her for the NCAA Regional meet. Teammate Ayla Smith took fifth overall with her 1:01.77. Tomika Ferguson led a 5-7 finish in the long jump as she hit 19′ 2″ while teammate Katie Tershel leapt 18′ 7.75″ to take seventh.
Kevin Tschirhart finished second in his heat of the 3000m run and took third overall with his 8:23.44 while teammate Trey Miller finished seventh in 8:30.75.Reuben Jones and Brian Lee both won their sections of the 200m dash.
